Almost perfect except for the rear pocket material

It's really difficult to find a running short with a 5" inseam, no mesh liner, and a rear back pocket for some reason. In fact the first pair of these shorts I bought had a liner I had intended to cut out before I realized they had a linerless option. The ones with a liner use the same fabric as the liner for the rear pocket which is stretchy meaning it holds your phone tight and conforms to the size of the phone. The linerless version uses the same sized pocket but with the material the shorts are made out of which don't stretch. I am just barely able to jam my phone in horizontally if put my phone in before I put the shorts on. There is no way I will be able to pull my phone out on a run and replace it while still running. Hard to tell from the pictures, but the black pocket is the stretch material where the phone truly sits horizontally. The grey pocket is theses linerless shorts where I can kind of get my phone jammed in there.I wish the linerless version used the same material for the rear pocket as the liner ones. For perspective my phone is 6"x3".Otherwise these are the perfect length, length, fit, and fabric. Very happy with these shorts and Baleaf overall. I also use their jogger pants for working out and running in colder weather.

light weight and very comfortable

While searching for running shorts, than came up on Amazon's recommended. To me, brand name is not important as long as it have side pockets, an extra zipper pocket and quality/comfortable. Of course within budget. After researching on this brand/company, it is a fairly new company that manufacturers sports wear based out of California. I decided to give this a try. Here is my break downFit - as expected, I am 5'9, 190lbs and waist 36. Size large was just right with enough room to spare where it is not too baggy/looseQuality - outside fabric is very soft to the touch even when out running and sweating. Does not stick to skin at all. It is thin but feels strong. If it wasnt for the inside mesh brief, I can easily forget i was wearing this. Speaking of inside mesh brief, mine came in white (same was drawcord) while my shorts are navy blue. It can't be seems on the outside, but maybe it would be better if it came in matching color? The brief did not ride up or feel uncomfortable in my long run.Side pocket - big enough and fairly deep enough to fit large phone (6.5") but seems like it stuff can fall out.Extra zip pocket - located in center back of pants, it is big enough to fix keys, wallet/cash and energy gel packs, BUT doest not fit my phone. If you have a large phone like mine, dont bother trying to fit it in. The opening alone is not big enough.5" inseam was just the right length for me. It is around 2 inches up from knee, which provided good flexibility and not drag when runningI did two wash so far and wore this once for a 10 mile run. So far it held up, but can't say for the printed reflected brand name on lower left thigh. It seems to be printed on and might fall/wear out after more washed. Overall satisfy but only time will tell if the stitching and quality hold up after more usage

What I wanted to say about my new shorts from: BALEAF

Hi everybody. I am a 70 year old female (I'm not Steve. I'm married to Steve.) I play tennis three times a week, I’m big boned, not huge but 20 pounds overweight. I cannot fit into the cutsey women’s XL size they sell at Dicks. Academy, etc. I have given up trying to ever shop in there. Shame on them for never carrying any women’s 2X.I play most tennis with married men so would never wear the teensy skirt that flashes your AQQ every time you bend over to pick up a ball. (Girls, don’t be naïve. It’s not okay.) Thus I am forced to hunt for Men’s XL shorts, ones that don’t look too masculine. I’m very picky and it’s really hard to find what I need. Enter Baleaf. I just bought two pairs.Do they have the light dreamy fabric that wicks away moisture? Check! The perfect length? (for me, 5”) Check! Deep pockets to hold my tennis balls? Check! Nice, comfy elastic waistband? Check! Adjustable strings at waist? Check! And Ooh, look how strong they are! How about a nice subtle logo design for men who want to scream their game, not scream their brand? Check! How about great colors that girls would like too, not just grey and navy. Check! Built in brief? You bet! Check! But cool -- they used clever, stylish brief colors to compliment and contrast the outside, not just boring noncolors. How about the price? Check! $18 instead of $45+. for the same or better quality than the big boys. Finally, they fit great. They wash great. But wait! There’s more! Act now and you will receive, at no extra charge, a zipper pocket in center back to hold your keys and money. THANK YOU, BALEAF! I love you guys.

Excellent product

These lightweight shorts are great. With outside material wicking and mesh inside, I found the combination just want I wanted for running and exercising. Excellent for the hot weather in Florida. Also, their sizing chart is accurate and they fight just right. Highly recommend.

Great shorts for hiking

These fit perfectly. The light and quick dry material is perfect for hiking and hot weather. The brief liner is similar to some much more expensive Mountain Hardwear shorts at better price point.

Light but have a liner

These are nice and light but I returned because I didn’t realize they have a liner. I would have kept them if they didn’t have a liner.

Great running shorts

Great fit and quality. I enjoy the zipper pocket on the back.middle. it is great to hold car key without bouncing while running. The material is high quality, and well constructed. 5 in inseam is a perfect length, not roo shoet or too long.BALEAF is a brand to.trust.

Weird sizing and inseam

These running shorts are adequate for the price but have a number of problems that make them worse than other brands like Pudolla. They are not 5 inch shorts, they are 7. The way they are cut makes them much longer than any real pair of five inch shorts. I have to fold the waist band down to make them shorter. And also the liner is terrible and paired with the way they're cut causes the material of the shorts to bunch up between your legs as you run.I recommend Pudolla and have never had a problem with their sizing or liners.

Baggy

Received the correct size, but there is too much material . Much too baggy around torso and legs.

Incorrect sizing

These are comfortable shorts. They do run a little big and long. I ordered 3 pairs of the 5” length and they were the same length as a pair of 7” shorts. It’s not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind.

Quality for the price

I’m liking theses for their looks, functionality and price. I hate idea of paying 40-50 dollars for a “name” on my running shorts. These are quality shorts at an affordable price.

Shorts

Very light and loose shorts. Not my favorite pair because they are a little baggy. Overall good shorts though.

Great Shorts, Thin Material

These shorts are great, I’ve tried other pants by this brand and haven’t been disappointed yet!

liner massive, chafe factory

I bought these for the specific purpose of wearing over long tights for an upcoming mud run, which worked out fine. They would likely be fine for wearing to the gym or around the house. They are NOT good for running, and the sizing is way off. My Nike running shorts are a medium, so I got these in medium as well; they're more like extra large. The liner on these is massive. If you're a person that needs incontinence products, you'll probably have no problems. For me, I could almost put another person in these shorts with me. This liner is so large, it offers no support whatsoever. Might as well not even have a liner, its pointless. If your giblets are flapping around like an American flag on the back of a dually diesel, you're doing it all wrong. The waistband is significantly over-sized for medium. If you would normally wear an XL, you'll probably be good with a medium. If you pull the string to tighten them up, then the waist is all bunchy and uncomfortable. If you don't tighten them, don't put things in your pockets or they'll slide down. The worst part is the inseam. The length of the inseam is fine, its how far down the crotch seam is that's a severe problem. These offer zero protection from chafing, unless you roll the waistband down at least twice. If you roll the waistband, then you can't use the back pocket for anything other than maybe a small car key. You can still use the side pockets, but you have to put your stuff in them first, then roll the band; now you can't get your stuff out of the pockets with it rolled. I did wear these to run club one day, just to see how they did; they did poorly, chafing was bad.Maybe if you have a real big booty (I do not) to take up the slack in the shorts and the liner, these might be a win for you. I got another pair like these (same brand), but with 7in inseam, they have the same horrible issue with crotch seams being way too low, but the liner is noticeably smaller, though still too big.

My favorite all-around shorts

These shorts are absolutely fantastic for the activities I primarily engage in: 1) hiking/backpacking, 2) climbing/bouldering, 3) work outs, and 4) weekends around the house. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to find shorts that don't hang about my knees like man capris, yet aren't 1970 NBA short. Despite the 5" rating on these, they aren't as short as what you might be expecting. I'm 5'10 and they hit just above my knees. They're made of a synthetic fabric that isn't at all uncomfortable, is lightweight, and dries fast. I like the liner because I can go commando, swimming, etc. The liner is a non-issue when I wear boxer briefs. It's nice on a backpacking trip or hike to be able to jump into a creek or lake for a dip and have them dry quickly. They have a drawstring in the elastic waistband which I don't usually need to tie, but if I go swimming I do.The three pockets are fantastic. The front pockets are great because they are deep enough for a phone, wallet, keys, etc. On a lot of shorts in this price range you get pockets that aren't deep enough to hold a pea, much less something valuable. The zippered pocket on the back is really nice when you want to be extra sure to secure something and is also big enough for a phone or slim wallet. If these shorts have a weakness at this price point, I'm not sure what it is. I've experienced no issues with fit, quality, or durability. They're comfortable. I now own three pairs and wish I had more.

Edited review: Not very well made or designed, but super comfortable, fit great.

I'll leave my original review below and edit it as follows:Within a month or so, the threads securing the elastic in the waist band began coming apart. Within another couple of months the seam of the right-side pocket began to split open. So: These are still comfortable shorts to wear for exercise, but you should lower your expectations when it comes to their quality and durability. Maybe you don't mind having your clothes unravel and start to fall apart within a few months, but for me it affects my buying decisions. It's unfortunate that this manufacturer relies on people's lowered standards or knows that most of the issues with quality will arise after the free return period.ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW:I bought these shorts primarily for running and also for riding my bike and exercising. They're perfect for all of those activities. With one minor exception, there is a lot to like about them.PROS:- Excellent fit: I'm 5'8", 145 lb, 30 inch waist, and I ordered a men's Small. I couldn't ask for a better fit.- Comfortable, supportive liner: The inner liner fits me perfectly, front and back.- Lightweight, quick-drying fabric: The shorts don't cling to your legs if you perspire during a run, and they dry out quickly after washing.- Side pockets have good depth: I can drive my car or ride my bike and not have to worry that anything in the side pockets is going to fall out.- Excellent elastic in the waistband: The waistband securely keeps the shorts up without needing to tie the drawstring, and yet it doesn't feel like you'll have an imprint on your waist when you take them off. (I have a pair of "name brand" running shorts that are nowhere near as comfortable as these shorts, and a lot of that has to do with how restrictive the waistband is.)- Good looking shorts: I really like the length of these shorts. The hem comes several inches above my knee.- Solid construction: I've worn these shorts quite a few times and they've been through the laundry without any sign of loosening of the elastic or fraying of the fabric. They're really well put together.CONSOnly one con, and it's what keeps me from giving these shorts a 5-star rating: The back pocket. I wouldn't let it matter, but they sort of make a big deal about it in the product description, as if it's something very useful. Other than maybe carrying a little bit of cash (not in a wallet) in the zippered pocket, I can't imagine what you can put in there that isn't going to be noticeable and annoying as you run or exercise. The bottom of the pocket sits about 2 inches below the top of my butt crack. If I put my house keys in there they flop around and bang against me, and there's no way I could sit down with them in the pocket. My cell phone is 5.75 inches long, and it doesn't fit into the pocket, although I can't imagine trying to walk around with it - let alone run - if it did fit in there. If they made a pair of shorts that has all of the other great features of these shorts without the relatively useless back pocket, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. (Maybe they do and I just haven't found them on Amazon.)Bottom line: I'm very happy I bought these shorts, and I'll probably order another pair just to have different color options. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these shorts to a friend, but I'd warn them not to expect the zippered pocket to have much use.

Decent Quality, But Disappointing Aspects

These are pretty good running shorts. They aren't hip shorts, but they also aren't a 'to the knee' length. Perfect length IMO. They are soft, light, and comfortable even with the mesh liner. Honestly, I am not sure what the liner is supposed to do, but it's not a snug fit so I still wear underwear with the shorts. The front pockets are just deep enough for a phone, which is a plus (see below) and the back pocket can easily hold a set of keys and cash/cards/ID.That brings me to the first negative. Unless your cell phone dates to 2015 or earlier, you most likely won't be able to fit it in the back zipper pocket. The pocket is just far too small, especially for today's larger 'phablet' style phones (iPhone X/S, Galaxy/Galaxy Note 7-10, etc). If you have an iPhone 6 or more recent models or any Android flagship built in the last 5 years, you probably won't be able to fit your phone in the zip pocket. My phone is just under 6 inches tall and it's not even close to being able to fit. The zipper itself is only about 5 inches long, if that tells you anything. Again, the front pockets are deep enough for a phone, but they're stretchy so not only is the phone slapping against one's leg but it gives the illusion that it is pulling the shorts down. I'm actually tempted to take off another star here for false advertising from the company, as the product is listed with 'zipper pocketS' yet there is only one small zipper pocket on the back. The other negative is that the fabric is a bit transparent. Not to the point where one can see through it, but enough that light passes through. Probably why the liner is included.I'm keeping these, as they seem solid enough to wear on 10k or less runs. Though not sure they're ideal for lengthy jogs. I'm just finding it hard to believe that there are so many imperfect running shorts out there. I mean, are the points below so hard to master:- Comfortable- Zipper pocket(s) large enough to hold a modern day cell phone.- Mid thigh length- Solidly Constructed (too many fit the rest of the bill but fall apart within a month)- Lightweight constructionThat's it. Anyone find something that fits the bill?
