I really like this jacket, I should have gotten one size smaller. I know I will wear with layers so that's ok. I like the packing pocket. I thought it was supposed to have nice big inside pockets BUT they're fake pockets, there isn't an opening and the bottom isn't sewn to the jacket, it's just a big hole.
Going on a trip & current forecast is 2 days of rain. Unlike husband & son, I am without a lightweight folding rain jacket! Prime comes thru and sent me just what I need the next day! This one is more expensive but I like that the fabric, zipper, pockets and style is more tailored. The fabric is not thick but not transparent, shiny or plastic. There is an elastic drawstring at the upper back (feels too high) by the vend. The front is flat with extra panel that keep the shape maybe? I am 53 so the longer jacket is like a parka on me (maybe an advantage of being short). I tried to follow the instruction (posting the screenshot with pink jacket) to fold into front pocket but it does not work. Or maybe I am supposed to have a separate baggie? I was checking the two inside front layers that looks like it should do something. It is not a pocket cause it is open on the bottom. (Someone tell me what it does please if you figure it out!) Then I notice the hood pocket is really big. I was able to first tuck the hood in and then fold up the rest of the jacket, roll it up in the back and tuck the whole thing in there! The package is about 10 x 4 x 2. Not tiny but small enough to tug in my backpack. Theres lots of great details like the top of the zipper has these little flaps to create a pocket and keeps the zipper from catching your neck skin (an old lady problem). The hooded, vented back is also a great features to keep cool. The hood is also very big with a bill in front AND a drawstring so the big hood does not catch wind and blow off. I really appreciate the thoughtful design! I got a medium by the way cause I want to have room for a fleece or sweater if its cold. (I am kind of heavy on top). Small may fit but snug with only room for something light under.
I'm 5'9" 150# and a large was quite large enough on me.I was hoping there would be a waist cinch as advertised, but the cinch is quite high, and cinches awkwardly over the chest. So I figured I could just cinch it myself with an elastic belt, and that would work. It's light enough to travel with. Haven't use it outside yet, so I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a sauna.
Two weeks in Europe and this little beauty was a life saver in Spain. Very light weight so size up if you are wanting to layer but perfect for those windy damp days. The only complaint I have is that the sleeves need to be banded or Velcro at the cuff. The hood is a little big but you can use the drawstring to fix that problem. As I said it is not for warmth but in a downpour the only part that got wet was what went down the sleeve as I was holding the hood out over my face to keep my glasses dry. Four stars only because of the lack of cuff closure. The bag hooked on the strap of my crossbody bag and was out of site and out of mind until I needed the jacket for the rain.
I bought this preparing for a trip to Europe along with a fleece jacket and vest. This raincoat description states that it is purple. The vest and fleece jacket both claim to be lavender. In my opinion the only one that is correct on its color is the fleece jacket. This purple jacket is a very pastel purple/pinkish color. Whethert looks more pastel purple or pastel pink will depend on lighting and what clothes it is up against. This raincoat is very well made, making it a good value for the money. The style is very nice with the vented back, inside drawstring and hood that can be folded and zipped into the coats collar. The waterproof quality for how light it is, is as I would expect it to be. The raincoat is also very comfortable. With how light it is, I did not purchase it expecting to really help with warmth and planned to layer anyway as the picture shows. Between the 3 pieces, I have multiple options for layering. I bought my a bit larger to allow for having the fleece jacket and the vest under it. The ability to pull in the waist with the elastic drawstring is enough for me when wearing it alone. The description says this raincoat is for hiking. Obviously, their idea of hiking is vastly different than mine! A walk around town, stroll along a beach or through a park, or along a pristinely maintained path this jacket would be fine. But, a hike through the wilderness of the Big Horn Mountains or the like, this would not be my go to raincoat! Any hiking trails we go on, this jacket would get ripped way too easily and I would not attempt to carry a hiking pack with it either. My go to raincoat for hiking would be my old one that has some substance to the fabric to keep it from ripping if I pass a branch, rock, or anything that might potentially be a bit sharp. I seriously doubt this lightweight jacket would do well sitting on a rock during a hiking break, or while eating lunch. This is a beautiful raincoat, but made for more city type settings, not wilderness hiking.I purchased it because I wanted a very lightweight raincoat for the European trip. I also wanted a hood that would fold into the collar. I also wanted a vented back, because I know in rainy, humid conditions a raincoat also tends to end up being too warm without ventilation. I also wanted a longer length instead of hip length. Not only for more coverage, but for a dressier look.Since I purchased it a bit larger than my true size, the sleeves are way too long. I could not say that is the companies fault in my case. To resolve that problem, I repositioned one side of the Velcro on both sleeves. I sew, making that an easy fix for me.The only con that I see with this jacket is the description of it being able to folded into one of its front pockets. I tried and do not see that this is possible, or even a good idea. (1) The pocket zipper is not as long as the pocket interior. In my opinion the length of zipper used makes it too small of an open to stuff the jacket though. (2) The zipper kept getting caught on the flap meant to cover the zipper. I could not even succeed in getting it zipped all the way closed. (3) With how lightweight the jacket is and how tight the fit is trying to get it into, then back out of the pocket, I was grateful I did not end up with the fabric getting torn. Ill resort to putting it back in the ziplock bag it came in if I need to. Otherwise, it will just be folded up.Bottom line: beautiful, well made jacket, ideal for travel, around town and even a walk in the park, BUT not for serious hiking.
After getting drenched in a recent rain storm with my old "rain coat," I went on the search for the perfect waterPROOF rain jacket. I finally ordered 2 different brands and decided to go with this brand. It checked all the boxes - inside and outside pockets, cinched waist, lightweight for travel, and long enough to cover my butt (don't know why anyone wouldn't want a longer one). Plus I definitely wanted waterproof - not water resistant.I usually wear XL so that's what I ordered but it was way too big so I returned it and got a large and it's perfect! There is still enough room to wear something warm underneath if I want. (5'1" 160 lbs) The sleeves are too long but I'm used to that and the velcro at the wrists help. The hood is unusually big but guess my face won't get wet - lol. But I can also deal with that by folding it under my head. But my biggest shock was when I saw the tag that said water "resistant" instead of "proof." What the heck? That's one of my dealbreakers! But I ran the sleeve under water and my arm stayed dry so I'll assume it's waterproof. Also, I spent 20 minutes trying to fold the jacket into its pocket - what a joke! I'll try again later but it really seems impossible.I debated giving this coat 4 stars instead of 5 for those reasons, but I think I'll be happy with it (just got it today). I'll edit this post later if I figure out the pocket thing and after I see how it really does in the rain.
Loved the jacket but found it too large and had to exchange. Return and exchange process went smoothly .
For the price, it works. But be aware it's very thin and the white one that I ordered is stark white and will make you look like a doctor in a hospital. Another color would have been better.
The coat is not pink its a light purple. I am disappointed about this.
This is a weatherproof shell. It goes over a warmer layer if its cold or a lighter layer if you just need protection from rain. Love the length.
Sent it back. It was too big.
Not writing to complain, just to make buyers aware. These run very big and also long. I am 5’2” and 180 lbs. I normally wear an XL. The picture shows the coat at mid thigh on the model. It is well below my knees. I had a heavy sweatshirt on when I tried it on and it still had plenty of room. Also, this is great for packing, extremely lightweight so only for warm weather unless you wear stuff underneath for warmth.
This a very high quality, beautiful jacket! The fit is amazing and the sleeves are long. Every detail is perfect. The length and fit is excellent.
Hood attachment is a bit odd not otherwise a good raincoat.
I liked everything about it except for the hood...it's huge! If it's windy I expect it will blow right off.
This is a nice raincoat for the price. Definitely follow the size recommendations. I was going to order large so I can layer with sweaters - the medium turned out to be the right call. Its plenty big.Its a struggle to get the coat back into the little bag compartment. Thats my only complaint.
First time purchase. I like the length, the vented back and the light weight part of this windbreakerbut I just spent the better part of 15 minutes working this jacket into the compact pocket! YIKES! Maybe rethink the storage process.
Lovely color and well-made garment. I purchased a small but the sleeves are so long they cover most of my hands. The shoulder line extends at least 1.5 inches beyond my shoulders. The ample hood covers over half my face and impedes vision. The front hangs in folds. Will the manufacturer make an extra-small for us? I am almost 5'4" and 104 pounds. I will probably return it.I kept the coat: I made a fold on the back side of the hood of about 1.5 inches and sewed it; this lifted the it so that I can see better. I have gotten more accustomed to it being oversize. I have gotten many compliments on it and can see that others think it's quite stylish.Today I wore it in pouring rain for the first time. The rain never soaked my back but water seeped through my sleeves and the rest of the coat a bit. I'm relieved I wasn't soaking wet.
It runs so big! I am normally a large, but I will be returning it to get a medium. I have a large head and this hood was very big on me and flopped over my face. Good if you have voluminous hair, perhaps.Lets address this early: the jacket does not come with a carrying pack; it folds up into its own left pocket and THAT is the carrying pack! Genius design. The pocket has a little carrying strap and a double sided zipper so that it can be closed from the outside or the inside. To fold: zip up the jacket and lay it flat right side up, fold the arms across the chest and fold the hood down at the neck. Fold the whole jacket in half so that front+sleeves+hood are on the outside. Fold in thirds. Flip over and the left front pocket will be in the center. Proceed to stuff into pocket, turning pocket inside out in the process. Its a tight fit but it becomes easier with practice. They thought of everything with this jacket. The upper back is sheer breathable mesh underneath the waterproof panel. The wrists, waist, and hood are adjustable. The hood has a flexible visor that can be folded back if needed, and the hood can be rolled up and stored in a narrow Velcro panel at the base of the neck. Plenty of length - the jacket reached my knees. Reflector patterns. Soft, stylish, lightweight, comfortable, well-made.It does sound crunchy like a classic windbreaker, but not obnoxiously so.I wish this jacket came in more colors that are on the muted side instead of stark black and bright pink and blue.
I got this waterproof jacket to replace a quite expensive Eddie Bauer rain jacked I had had for years. I left /forgot it on a train in France. I was so bummed. I ordered this one based on the reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, it IS WATERPROOF. It kept me dry and I got lots of compliments on the style. It is a great value for the price. I got the black in medium. I also use it as a windbreaker and it functions very nicely in windy days. Also, the hood is adjustable, which is very nice. Usually add a baseball cap to keep my glasses dry in a downpour!
I purchased this jacket as a layering waterproof windbreaker for a 10 day European trip down the Rhine. It worked perfectly! It is a little pricey for Amazon and for what it is - - but it worked. Reviews say it runs big so I purchased my regular size M hoping since it ran big it would go over lighter coats and heavy sweaters...and it did. The length was perfect. It is a little challenging to get into its pocket sack but it scrunches up and fits in a medium cross body handbag great. I recommend!
Just returned from a trip to Panama and Columbia during rainy season. This coat is waterproof and very lightweight. Good pockets, length, zippers and easy to pack. The only thing I will say is that on a hot humid day it gets a bit steamy inside. I would recommend this jacket. Bought for the trip but will continue to wear at home as well.
